Spherize

Bends the picture as if projected onto a sphere.

The Spherize node wraps the frame around a sphere. The centre grows and the edges compress, or the reverse for negative values.

Spherize

  • Amount and Scale, both signed
  • Found in the node graph under Post FX → Distortion
Example patch — drag onto the app to load

The image on the right is the example patch itself. Drag and drop it onto the app, or load it with File → Load, to open the full graph. A Caustics field, run through a Gradient Colorizer, at the default of 0; raise Amount to see the sphere.

Inputs and outputs

Spherize node

PortTypePurpose
InputTextureThe picture to process.
OutputTextureThe result.

Parameters

Spherize parameters

Opacity, Blend Mode, and Alpha are the standard operator header; see Parameters and Controls.

  • Amount (−5 to 5, default 0) — strength of the projection. Negative inverts it.
  • Scale (−5 to 5, default 0) — size of the sphere relative to the frame.

Every slider has a per-parameter animation bar, so it can be animated, audio driven, or MIDI mapped.

Examples

Globe — Amount 2 on a Topographic generator, then a circular Shape Mask.

Troubleshooting

Nothing happens — both controls default to 0. Raise Amount first.

Equirectangular to dome projection.

Ripple

Displaces the picture with animated concentric sine rings from the centre.
